Writing letters

Dearest Reader,

I think I have found a new hobby. Writing letters. Jane Austen once said, " A person who can write a long letter with ease, cannot write ill." I try to make my letters like a conversation. I have found by doing so it is easier for me to write and think of things to say and I think it is easier for the person to read and respond. Ever since I was little I have written letters. Almost all of them were to my cousin Jessica who lives two hours away. I don't see her much so she was and is one of my favorite pen pals. We usually just use e-mail now, but I like to get a letter in the mail. There is something magical about it. All mail, except bills and spam, is like getting a mini party of happiness when you receive it. I find that there is a thrill to opening a letter. Personally the hardest part is finding the time to respond. The time is always there, you just have to find it or make room for it. I like to write. It is my art form, how I get my emotions and thoughts out. My favorites are letters and poetry. I have to be in a certain mood to write poetry but I can be in any mood to write a letter. I challenge whoever is reading this to write just one letter, It can even be a little post card. Giving compliments is the best. It not only makes them feel good but it makes you feel great. When I am on the planes, bus and trains in or going to Europe this summer I want to write letters in my spare time. That is if I have any. It is truly depressing that people don't really write anymore. Our language has slipped into a strange code made up of letters like lol, icic, wht, idk, and so on. For your information I don't own that photo, I got it off the Internet and I thought it looked cool. I LOVE old fashioned things. My style is kinda vintage.

Bring back the classics! The long letters are out there. Make them known! Letters record your history. A diary or journal is basically a letter to yourself and posterity when you are no longer on this earth. I want my kids and their grand kids to know me even after I am gone. I want them to know ME. Not just my name on a family tree in some long forgotten book. How about you? Write something today. Be remembered. Change the world.

Yours truly,
Nicole Neilson
